John Anthony Depa

January 4, 1960 — January 15, 2021

John Anthony Depa was born January 4, 1960 and passed away January 15, 2021 at age 61. John was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska and graduated from Omaha South High School in 1978. He attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where he played for the mens baseball team. He played outfield and first base, and was instrumental in leading the team to the 1981 conference championship. After graduation, the Omaha World Herald selected him with one of their top draft picks where he put in 15+ years of service in the sales department.

John was the biggest Chicago Cubs fan, and was elated to have seen them win a World Series. He had a love for thrilling roller coasters, horse racing and Nebraska Football (pre Frost era). He loved to bowl (Chops Bowl back-to- back champions), golf and travel, but most of all he enjoyed visiting with family, while enjoying a cold Coors Light.

John was the ultimate family man. He was the best husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, cousin, best friend and Keno writer. He wore each of those hats so proudly. He loved his family unconditionally, and his unexpected passing is a hard one to understand. He was a man of God, and his strong faith had him on the express lane to heaven.

John is preceded in death by his parents Michael and Katherine. He is survived by his wife: Marge (Margo), children: Michael- 35, (Brett- 32), Katie- 28 and Tom- 26; grandson: Carson- 10; siblings: Ray, Mary and Zonia. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and additional extended family.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2021, from 4 to 7PM, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church . A rosary will follow at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, January 21, 2021, at 10:00 AM, also at church. Interment at Calvary Cemetery.
