Alice Mae Dennis-Gould, the youngest girl and seventh of nine children, was born on March 9, 1955, in Newark, Maryland, to the late George and Dorothy Dennis. At the age of 70, she went to be with our Lord on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Bergen Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska.
Known to her family as "Maebelle, " Alice will be remembered by many as a comedian and jokester. She had a special way of bringing a smile to everyone's face, and she genuinely cared about people and their well-being.
As a child, Alice faithfully attended Williams A.M.E. Church in Newark with her family, where she was a member of the youth choir. She was born and raised in Worcester County, where she completed her elementary and high school education. After working various jobs in Ocean City, Maryland, she went on to graduate from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Ms. Gould began her teaching career in Nebraska with Omaha Public Schools (OPS). For more than 38 years, she taught hundreds of students throughout the Omaha area. She valued and loved teaching and bringing knowledge to the young minds of the North Omaha community. She taught at schools like Walnut Hill, Saratoga, Belvedere, Yates, Sacred Heart, and Jesuit Academy, and a few other educational institutions. Alice's belief in the power of learning was just one of the many ways she gave back. During her time in Omaha, she also became a devoted member of Prince of Peace Baptist Church, where she sang in the church choir and enjoyed fellowship with her Christian family.
Alice had one daughter Tempestt Gould and grandson William Clark ll of Omaha, NE. ‘’Little William’’ as she called him, whom she cherish and adored. Family that’ll keep her memories are two sisters: Dorothy Dennis-Thomas of Salisbury, MD; Laura Purcell of Omaha, NE; three brothers Carl Dennis of Newark, MD; Duke Dennis and wife Janice of New Castle, Delaware; and Archie Dennis of Temple Hill, MD. She’s also survived by a several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and extended family and a host of friends. Her mother and father: George and Dorothy Dennis; two sisters: Mary and Clara Dennis; one brother George Dennis proceed her in death.
