Allen Mutzenberger

November 28, 1939 — November 5, 2025

Allen "Al" Edwin Mutzenberger, age 85, passed away on November 5, 2025, in Omaha, Nebraska.

Born on November 28, 1939, in Stanton, North Dakota. Allen was the son of William and Ida Mutzenberger. He grew up in Stanton and graduated from high school there before pursuing higher education at Minot State College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in education. He later continued his studies at North Dakota State University.

Allen dedicated much of his professional life to education. He began his career as a teacher and football/wrestling coach in several North Dakota schools including Fort Yates and New Salem. His commitment to students and learning led him to serve as principal at Arthur/Hunter High School in North Dakota. Beyond the classroom, Al was also skilled with his hands—working as a carpenter and taper during different periods of his life.

He proudly served his country as a Specialist Fourth Class (SP4) in the United States Army where he gained skills as a repairman and furniture finisher.

Allen had a deep love for the outdoors and sports. Fishing and camping were among his favorite pastimes, and he found great joy in following sports of all kinds throughout his life. Nebraska Cornhuskers, Creighton Blue Jays and NDSU were among his favorites.

He is remembered by those who knew him for the many roles he played—as an educator, craftsman, veteran, and enthusiast of nature and athletics.

Allen is survived by his sister Luella Foley; his former wife Judy Mutzenberger; daughters Lisa Parker (Douglas) and Katrina Andrews (Brandon); grandchildren Robert Olson, Jordan Olson, Katy Rukas, Nicky Parrott, Zach Parker, Jordain Smith, and Cody Parker; and great-grandchildren Carson, Paisley, Harley, Charlie, and Stevie.

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Ida Mutzenberger; brothers Marvin and Larry Mutzenberger; and daughter Suzanne Rukas (Steve).

May Allen Mutzenberger’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire those whose lives he touched. A Graveside Service will be held on November 17, 2025, from 01:30 PM to 02:00 PM at Omaha National Cemetery 14250 Schram Road.
