Art was born on May 13, 1938 to Frederick and Loretta Claussen. He was the oldest of 4. He grew up in Benson and raised his family there. He was drafted into the Army in 1961.
He met and married his wife Sandra "Sam" on April 1, 1961. They were married 50 years and 2 days when she passed. They had 3 kids. He worked at Western Electric, later becoming Lucent for 30 plus years. He retired and spent most of his life at his cabin on the Elkhorn River. He worked at Two Rivers for many years part time. Art lived at his cabin year round until the flood in 2019. He moved in with Kaci and her family ever since.
Art had a love for eagles, his dogs, and being at the river. He was a jokester even up to his last breath. He always and a good joke or a tool you needed. He was always working on a project of some sort. He built and added onto his house and cabin. he loved cruising around the neighborhood on his scooter. Everyone knew and loved him.
Despite all his health issues, he lived a good life and proved the doctors wrong. He had a good fight in him even if he didn't understand why. He would always say he just wanted to be home with Kaci's cooking. She was honored to take care of him all those years up til his last breath per his wishes.
Preceded in death by wife, Sandra K. Claussen and daughter, Tricia Claussen. Survived by son, Alan Claussen; granddaughter, Kaci (Jeremy) Meyers; great granddaughters, Grace and Kailani; brother, Ron (Cathy) Claussen; sisters, DeeDee Cox and Rocky (Ken) Lamb; and extended family.
