Asia Marie Swan was born on February 12, 2004, to Adrian Swan and Annaye Nash in Omaha, Nebraska. Asia was the second eldest of five children.
Asia attended Hartman Elementary and Davis Middle School. Always an honor roll student, Asia excelled in science and history. During high school, she was a member of G.E.M.S. (Growing and Empowering Myself Successfully), the youth chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Also a gifted athlete, Asia ran both the 50 and 100-yard dash, which earned her a place in the state championship. She graduated from Northwest High School in 2022.
While her father passed when she was only three, his spirit was evidenced in her love of music. Headphones were often surrounding her beautiful face and smile, as she listened to his favorite, Tupac Shakur. Asia was also like her mother: soft-spoken, a minimalist - not materialistic, and always smiling.
Asia enjoyed spending time with her siblings and cousins. She developed a love for digital editing and anime and playing online video games on the platform Roblox. Asia was a technology genius, and her family would often call out "Tech!" to her when any electronics were out of order.
Baptized in 2018, Asia was drawn to the great outdoors, and all of nature seemed to be drawn to her. Asia was an adventurous little girl, with no tree too big to climb. Her first pet was Theodore the Hamster, who she rushed to embrace every day after school. With a smile, her family recalls "Tricky Asia," who fearlessly descended into the basement to instantly bag up a pesky mouse. The most beautiful and symbolic picture of Asia were the times butterflies would softly land on her - no one else.
Asia was known for her strong sense of fashion, and she could easily be found shopping online or in front of the mirror styling her hair. She also enjoyed watching movies, ordering from McAlister's Deli, and eating Cinnabons. Asia's favorite colors were purple and green; just mentioning those colors would put a big smile on her face. She had dreams of becoming a flight attendant through Delta Airlines and was often heard calling herself "A Delta Girl!" Asia's most recent job was at WalMart, and she would brag about how much she enjoyed working there.
Asia departed this earthly life and entered into eternal peace on Thursday, April 27, 2023. She was preceded in death by her father, Adrian Swan; grandparents, Ky and Ednarl Nash; uncles, Tony Herron and Earl Wallace; and Theodore, her beloved hamster.
Asia will be missed by everyone who loved her. Her giving nature and contagious giggle will be cherished in the memories of her mother, Annaye Nash; sisters, Adriyona, Adrienne, Atalya, Journee, and Aryanna Swan; brother, Caleb Nash; niece, Acelynn Robinson; grandparents, Darlene Herron (Tony), Thomas Nash (Dayna), Michelle Swan, Stella Scaife, Eric Howard (Denise), Anita and Lawrence Swan; aunts, Shawntel Scaife, Sharee Christian (George), Antoinette Scaife (Marcell), Angel Herron and Allison Nash; uncles, Traye and Shaquille Herron, Leland Swan; special friends, Dwayne, Sierra, Dwayne Jr. and Prince Cooley, Tim and Sheilah Sanders, and David Hardeman; and a host of cousins, great-aunts and uncles, extended family members, and friends, too numerous to mention.
