Barbara Hawthorne

Barbara Hawthorne was born May 18, 1938, in Many, Louisiana and passed away January 10, 2026, at the age of 87 in Omaha, Nebraska. She accepted Christ at an early age and was deeply committed to her faith and church as well as to family and friends. Many lives were touched with her smile, wise counsel, humor, wit, warm personality, and giving spirit. She leaves a legacy of undying faith, perseverance, and excellence and will be terribly missed!

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Russell Hawthorne, Sr. and leaves to cherish her memory five loving children: daughter, Cynethia (Dennis) Belton of Dallas, Texas; sons, Kevin, Richard, and Stephen Hawthorne, all of Omaha, Nebraska and Darryl (Alyssa) Payton of Spring, Texas; sister, Janice Sonnier of Rock Hill, South Carolina; and a host of loving friends and relatives.

Her home-going celebration will be held January 20th, 11:00 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church, 3131 Lake St., Omaha, NE 68111. The public viewing will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m.
