Bettie Bryant-McDonald founder and active member of the Native Omahans Club, Inc., was born and raised her in Omaha, Nebraska. Bettie belongs to the Bryant-Fisher family, the largest black family in Nebraska. She attended Jackson Elementary School, and is a graduate of Omaha Technical High School. After graduation from high school, Bettie attended and graduated from the Allhouse School of Beauty and Culture. She then became the owner of her own beauty shop, “The Economy Beauty Salon.” She ran her beauty shop business for over 50 years. Whie owning her shop, Ms. McDonald also worked as a Supervisor of the Linen Supplies Department for the Omaha Country Club. Bettie was an active member of St. Paul Baptist Church.
Bettie is preceded in death by her husband, Jesse McDonald; mother, Mildred Bryant (Littlejohn); father, Marcy Bryant; brothers, Doyle Bryant, Sr. and Clarence Bryant, Sr.; sister, Juanita Sutton.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
