Carolyn Ruth Meyer, born December 7, 1945, in Osmond, Nebraska, passed away on July 10, 2026.
Carolyn was the daughter of Mary Lou Lewis and Bill Lewis, both of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother, Bill Lewis Jr.
On May 30, 1964, Carolyn married Daniel “Dan” Meyer Sr. Together, they built a life centered on family and home. Carolyn and Dan lived for 52 years in the home they built outside of Bennington, Nebraska, before recently moving into an independent living apartment in Bennington. During those many years in their home, Carolyn found joy in caring for their large yard, gardening, planting flowers, and feeding the birds.
Carolyn dedicated more than 30 years to Bennington Public Schools, serving in several roles, including secretary and administrative assistant. She took pride in her work and valued the many relationships she formed with students, teachers, and staff throughout her years with the school district.
In her later years, Carolyn enjoyed visiting flea markets and antique shops. She also had a lifelong love of dogs and especially cherished their beloved dog, Belka. Carolyn enjoyed the time she and Dan spent in Clearwater, Florida, especially when family was able to join them. She had an appreciation for the simple pleasures of life and found happiness in the beauty of flowers, birds, antiques, dogs, and time spent with family.
Carolyn is survived by her brother Bill Lewis Jr of Omaha; her husband, Dan Meyer of Bennington; her sons, Daniel Meyer Jr. and his wife, Irene Meyer, and David Meyer and his wife, Laura Meyer, all of Omaha; her grandchildren, Katie Bellus and her husband Nick Bellus, Kyle Meyer, Bailey Meyer, and Nathan Meyer; and her great-grandchildren, Thomas Bellus and Wesley Meyer.
Carolyn will be remembered for her selfless devotion to her family, her many years of service to Bennington Public Schools, and the care and pride she put into her home and the those she loved.
In keeping with her wishes, no funeral service will be held. Instead, a celebration of her life will be scheduled soon.
