Cathy M Kumm

Oct 21, 1966 — Jul 28, 2026

Cathy M. Kumm, 59, of Norfolk, Nebraska, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on July 28, 2026, in Omaha, Nebraska, after a short battle with cancer.

Cathy was born on October 21, 1966, in Cambridge, Nebraska to Jesse and Judy Miller.

Throughout her life, she was known for her kind heart, resilient spirit, infectious laugh, her knowledge and wisdom, and the love she shared with her family and friends. Her laughter had a way of filling a room and bringing smiles to those around her, and it is a sound that will be deeply missed.

She worked in a variety of positions throughout her career, concluding her working years with the Nebraska Child Support Enforcement Center, where she took pride in helping others.

Cathy found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved camping, spending time outdoors, searching for treasured finds while thrifting, and watching birds—especially hummingbirds, which always brought a smile to her face. Above all, Cathy cherished the time she spent with her family.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Don Kumm of Norfolk, Nebraska; her daughter, Brittany Bartusch, and grandson, Grayson, of Omaha, Nebraska; her son, Brandon Bartusch, of Omaha, Nebraska; her brother, Rick (Marla) Miller of Odessa, Nebraska; her brother, Tony (Kerri) Miller of Kearney, Nebraska; her niece, Samantha Miller, and great-niece, Livviona; her niece, Madisyn (Dallen) Jakub, and great-nieces, Paisley and Harper; and her niece, Taryn (Daniel) Oldemeyer, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Community Center in Edison, Nebraska. A private family burial will take place at a later date.

Cathy will be remembered for her strength, her compassion, her wonderful sense of humor, and the love she gave so freely. Her laughter, kindness, and unwavering love for her family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will continue to shine as brightly as the hummingbirds she loved so much.
