Chad Allen Fortner, age 37 years and 17 days, entered into rest on October 2, 2026. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, on September 15, 1989, Chad was the cherished son of Penny L. Fortner and Steve Fiscus.

Chad attended Glenwood Schools from age seven through his freshman year. At age 18, he moved back to Council Bluffs, Iowa, where he stepped into young adulthood and built a life filled with close friendships and simple pleasures.

An active and fun-loving person, Chad loved nothing more than casting a line on fishing trips with his mother. He brought energy and passion to everything he enjoyed-whether playing basketball, riding his bike through town, playing video games, listening to music, or hanging out with his friends and girls. Chad was also the proud father of one son.

Chad is preceded in death by his sister Ashley Marie Hoffman and he is Survived by his mother, Penny L. Fortner of Woodbine, IA; his father, Steve Fiscus of Omaha, NE; his sister Stevie Fortner of Council Bluffs, IA; brothers, Jerimiah (Tori) Fortner of Omaha, NE, and Sean (Tina) Fortner of Council Bluffs, IA; his son; as well as his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and several cousins.

Celebration of Life & Gathering

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Northwest Christian Church, located at 714 Benson Street, Council Bluffs, Iowa. A light luncheon will follow the service onsite. All family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor Chad's life.
