Frank Charles Zavorka

Oct 26, 1942 — Jul 5, 2026

Frank Zavorka, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 5, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on October 20, 1942, in Omaha, Nebraska, Frank lived a life full of love, resilience, and service.

Raised in a nurturing home by his parents, Frank and Elizabeth Zavorka, Frank graduated from South High School in Omaha. He went on to dedicate his life to serving his community as a proud firefighter in Omaha. His career was marked by bravery and dedication, and he retired as a highly respected member of the force.

In February of 1995, Frank married his soulmate, Carol, with whom he shared a deep and abiding love. Together, they created a rich tapestry of memories, often riding their Harley and visiting Sturgis, and cherishing their time spent dancing and fishing. Frank's love for Carol was evident in every facet of his life, and he often spoke of her with great affection and admiration.

Frank was a man reborn in faith in 1977, and his spirituality was a guiding force throughout his life. He was a man of God, known for his generosity, caring nature, and infectious smile. His ability to make friends with anyone and his great sense of humor were just a few of the qualities that endeared him to so many. Frank truly loved everyone and never met a stranger.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Frank and Elizabeth Zavorka, his devoted wife, Carol Zavorka, and his dear sister, Anna Marie. Frank is survived by his daughters, Shalah (husband, John) and Jilleen, his stepchildren, Shelly, Jeff, Tim, and Tara, and his sister, Joanne and Patricia, nieces Jacqie, Lori Jo, Allie and Cathy. He leaves behind a legacy of love in his grandchildren, Damaion, Antigone, Terryn, Addison, Kelsey, Ryan, Zachary, Megan, and Trevor, as well as his seven cherished great-grandchildren.

Frank's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Pearl City Place in Muscatine and Moments Hospice for their compassionate care. They remember Frank as the strongest man, one who seemed to have nine lives, and whose resilience never ceased to amaze those around him.

Services to honor Frank's extraordinary life will be held on August 22, 2026, at 2:00 PMat Good Shepherd Funeral Home, located at 3809 N 90th St, Omaha, NE 68134. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of one's choice in Frank's memory.

In a special message, the family recalls a letter from Frank, where he spoke of the hummingbird: "Legends say that hummingbirds float free of time, carrying our hopes for love, joy, and celebration." Frank's spirit, much like the hummingbird, will continue to inspire and be cherished by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, yet fondly remembered, as his legacy carries on in the hearts of those he touched.
