Daniel Gillogly

Daniel Gene Gillogly of Omaha was born October 6, 1958, in Atkinson, Nebraska to Gene and Edith (Butterfield) Gillogly and passed away October 2, 2025, in Omaha, Nebraska. Dan, or Danny to his family, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Dan will be remembered for his sense of humor and his one-of-a kind personality and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Dan graduated from O'Neill, Nebraska High school in 1977. He spent his career in law enforcement starting with the Army Reserve Military Police and then retiring from the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services in 2020 after 23 years of service including several years as a union steward.

Dan is survived by his wife, Joyce Gillogly, son, Mitchell Gillogly, mother, Edith Kortus, sister Jacky (Doug) Jensen, nephews Kyle (Amanda) Jensen, Cole (Meredith) Jensen, niece Casey Jensen, uncle, Lyle (Frances) Gillogly, brother-in-law Glenn Walker as well as numerous cousins, extended family and friends. Dan was predeceased by his father, Gene Gillogly, stepfather, David Kortus, Grandparents Opal and Glenn Gillogly and Hilda and Willis Butterfield.
