Dante Benavente

Aug 19, 1991 — Jul 4, 2026

Dante Benavente passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 34, after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. He was born on August 19, 1991, in Redmond, Washington.

Dante was preceded in death by his father, Filiberto Sotelo.

He is survived by his loving mother, Martha Alejo Valtierra; his sisters, Selene (John) Benavente, Anaiz Benavente, and Ruby Sotelo; his cherished nephews, Adrian Valtierra, Isaias Gonzalez, and Jesse Ortiz; along with family and friends who will forever hold his memory close.

Dante had a gentle soul and a kind heart that touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He had a lifelong passion for cars and could often be found working on his own, always enjoying every chance to learn something new about the automotive world. Music filled his days, movies brought him comfort, and he found genuine happiness in the simple moments of life.

One of many was eating out with his best friends, Geronimo and Patrick.

One of Dante's greatest accomplishments was pursuing his education. He truly loved going to college and looked forward to it every day. He was proud of what he was learning and excited about the future he was building for himself.

Above all else, Dante loved his family. His mother, sisters and nephews-his beloved "nefus," as he affectionately called them-held a special place in his heart. The love he had for them was unconditional, and the time they spent together brought him endless joy.

Anyone who knew Dante knew about his love for Nike. With a smile, he would quickly remind everyone that Adidas wasn't welcome around him. He took great pride in collecting Nike shoes, and his collection reflected his personality and the things he loved.

Though cancer changed many things, it never took away Dante's kindness, his gentle spirit, or the love he shared with those around him. He will be remembered for his warmth, his quiet strength, his passions, and the lasting impact he made on the lives of his family and friends. His memory will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
