Deborah Leslie Harris

July 22, 1949 — April 5, 2026

Deb, 76, of Omaha NE, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, with her two oldest daughters by her side.

She was born on July 22, 1949 in Omaha, NE and moved to Columbus, NE in 1977. She spent 40 years as a dedicated employee to Columbus Community Hospital where she was known for her great sense of humor, friendliness, and reliability. After her retirement in 2017, Deb moved back to the Omaha area to be closer to family. She loved spending her free time with her family and close friends. Deb enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events and would never turn down an opportunity to go shopping or dine out. She had a special love for animals which she inherited from her parents and passed down to her children and grandchildren.

Deb was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Verneta (Hendrickson) Dawson and her brother Danny Lee Dawson.

She is survived by her children and their families: Victoria (Timothy) Brichacek and their children Breanna (Jack) Hutchings, Megan, Matthew, Isabella, and Sophia Christopher Murtaugh Jamie (Linda) Murtaugh and their child Jamie Lynn, and his children Caitlin (Cody) Johnson and Malachi Kristina (Don) Wallingford and their children Coby, Rylan, and Maya and their grandson Rhett Kendra Brown and her children Hayden Gembica and Azaria Macias

A celebration of Deb's life will be held on Sunday April 19, 2026 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the Palm (West) Ballroom at "A View on State" located at 13467 State Street in Omaha, NE 68142.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Josie Harper Hospice House in memory of Deborah Harris.
