Deborah Ann “Debi” Johnson (Lundgren)

Apr 19, 1949 — May 22, 2026

Deborah Ann “Debi” Johnson passed away on May 22, 2026, at the age of 77.

Born on April 19, 1949, in Fort Dodge, IA, Debi grew up in the small town of Gowrie, IA, where she attended and graduated from Prairie High School in 1967. After high school, she moved to Omaha, NE to attend Patricia Stevens Fashion and Secretarial College, where she earned a degree in Fashion Merchandising.

Debi dedicated more than 50 years of service to Mutual of Omaha, spending her career in the Medicare division. Following the transition of the Medicare contract to Wisconsin Physicians Service Insurance Corporation, she continued her work there until retirement. Her strong work ethic, dedication, and loyalty were constants throughout her life.

Debi found joy in the simple things like, soap operas, cheering on her beloved Boston Celtics, passionately supporting Iowa State Cyclones, and listening to Barry Manilow, whom she proudly saw in concert four times. She had a soft spot for cats, especially Pepper and TJ, two kittens her youngest daughter begged to bring home but who quickly became Debi’s cats.

Above all else, Debi loved her family fiercely. She was a devoted mother who worked tirelessly and sacrificed endlessly to give her daughters opportunities they otherwise may not have had—supporting their education, encouraging their goals, and always being there when they needed her. If you needed her, she showed up.

As wonderful as she was as a mother, Debi may have been born to be a grandmother. Her grandchildren were truly the light of her life. She treasured every moment with them—spoiling them when she could, taking them to movies, laughing and playing with them, and creating memories they will carry forever.

Debi was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald “Jerry” Lundgren and Helen Lundgren (Dougherty).

Debi is lovingly survived by her daughters, Jaime Lynn Johnson (Kenneth Case III), Kelley Ann Johnson, and Caire Leigh Barnett (Jeffrey Barnett); her cherished grandchildren, Tyler Gage Barnett, Kayleigh Nicole Case, Adalynn Paige Barnett, Mila Noelle Case, and Jessica James Johnson; her sisters, Vicki Griswold and Jacquelyn Ankenman (Paul Ankenman); and her nephew and niece, Daniel Ankenman and Amanda Theis (Aaron Theis).

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at 90th Street Chapel – Good Shepherd in Omaha. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

Debi will be remembered for her unwavering love, quiet sacrifices, steadfast support, and the deep devotion she had for her family. Her presence will be profoundly missed, but the love she gave so freely will remain with those who knew and loved her always.
