Debra Ann Ficken

Sep 11, 1955 — Jul 14, 2026

Omaha

Debra Ann Ficken was a beloved wife, daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother-affectionately known as "Nana." She was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Larry and Rita Quigley, and was the oldest of four daughters.

Debbie gave her life to Christ at the age of eight and remained devoted to serving Him and sharing the hope of the Gospel throughout her life. She graduated from Burke High School in 1973 and married the love of her life, David Ficken, on August 2, 1985. Together they built a loving home and were blessed with four children, 13 grandchildren, and eagerly anticipated the arrival of their 14th grandchild in August. Her favorite verse was Psalm 37:4, which reads, "Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." Debbie often shared that she was grateful that the Lord truly gave her the desires of her heart.

Debbie found her greatest joy in being a mother and Nana. She also loved antiquing, thrift shopping, decorating, baking, homemaking, and gardening. She and David enjoyed taking road trips, both near and far, creating treasured memories together. Debbie loved opening her home to family and friends, especially for the tea parties she so enjoyed hosting. Her love for children extended far beyond her own family. She faithfully served for many years in the church nursery and in the children's program at Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS), where she delighted in caring for and investing in young lives.

Debbie was preceded in death by her mother, Rita Quigley, and her sister, Cheryl Sempek.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, David Ficken; her father, Larry Quigley; her children, Melinda (Noah) Yost, Susannah (Jared) Barrick, Zachary (Amanda) Ficken, and Christiana (Trevor) Toelle; her cherished grandchildren, Brooklynn, Emma, and Felicity Yost; Audria, Asher, Hunter, and Silas Barrick; Ezra ("Ezzie") and Indy Ficken; and Henry, Amelia, George, and Edmund ("Teddy") Toelle. She is also survived by her sisters, Cindy Mailloux and Robin (Mark) Anderson; her brother-in-law, Mark Sempek; and many beloved in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
