Derek Armstrong

Derek “Uncle Bob” Armstrong passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024, at the age of sixty-three, in his home in Omaha, Nebraska. He loss the battle with a serious medical heart issue which he managed over the past 20 years. Derek showed his courage by facing life’s challenges with a smile on his face. Despite the pain and suffering, Derek came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.

 Derek was born in Argo, Illinois to James White and Winifred Armstrong-Jackson on July 13, 1960. Derek graduated from Argo High School in 1978. He joined the US Army in 1984 and served 2 years. Derek was a man of many talents, so he would say. However, he was always willing to lend a helping hand despite his health conditions. 

Derek was proceeded in death by his parents, James White and mother & stepfather, Winifred & JC Jackson. Derek leaves to mourn his life: Son -William A Armstrong (Shaneka) of Clarksville, TN., and Daughter – Tayler Armstrong of Omaha, NE. Grandchildren – Phoenix Armstrong, Denali, and Amare Armstrong. Siblings – Jonathan Jackson, Juliette Watson (Patrick), and Kellye Jackson all from Magnolia, AR., and Suzanne Carter (Matthew) of Lancaster, SC. A host of aunts, cousins, and close friends.
