Elvin Lightner Jr.

Elvin "Petey" Lightner, Jr of Sioux City, IA, passed away on September 14, 2025 in Omaha, NE.

Petey was born January 5, 1957 in Sioux City, Iowa to loving parents Elvin, Sr and Marvelean (Pounds) Lightner. Petey was the youngest of the family, having two older siblings Barbara and Terry.

Petey grew up in Sioux City, IA. He attended Hopkins Elementary School and West High School. After high school he went to work with his dad in their family owned automobile detailing business. Cars were his passion.

Petey was united in marriage to Desire' Williams. To this union they had four daughters; Paris Sanders, Kehona Carey (Aaron), Michelle Lightner and Rachelle Pokela (Peter). Their marriage was later dissolved. He entered into a relationship with Theresa Tott to which they had a son, Travis Lightner. He later met Sheryl Johnson with whom he had a daughter, Natassia Johnson. His 6 children blessed him with 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Petey loved and cherished all of them.

Petey is survived by two special, devoted relatives, his niece Michelle "Missy" Lavigne (Joseph) and his brother Terry Sims. Also left to cherish his memory are his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, aunts, uncles, and a host of cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Elvin Lightner, Sr and Marvelean Lightner, his sister Barbara Maharaj (Sims) and his longtime love Cathy Foster.
