Eugene Atkinson

Eugene (Butch, Gene, Geno) William Atkinson, age 73, passed away peacefully at CHI Health Immanual Medical Center on May 14, 2025. He was born to Harold and Romona Atkinson (Dreifurst) in Omaha, NE. Geno lived in Omaha the majority of his life until moving to Onawa, IA.

Gene was a mechanic by trade and a manager of O'Reilly's Auto Parts for several years, even known as "O'Reilly Guy".  His pride and joy were his nieces, Taylor and Lexi Atkinson as well as his great-niece, Raegan Atkinson. Gene grew up a boy scout and was a phenomenal bowler ~ scoring one 300 and two 299's.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Romona Atkinson and sister, Sharon Miller.

He is survived by siblings, Bruce (Penny) Atkinson of Omaha, Linda Atkinson of Omaha, Janet (Bill) Isley, of Elkhorn, NE, Vickie (Allen) Goetz of Fontanelle, IA, Kelley Roberts of Omaha, Diane (Russ) Steele of Grimes, IA, and Kyli Atkinson (Bryan Cole) of Onawa, IA; many nieces, nephews, cousins and many close friends. He will be missed by many.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 28°' at Rockin Robbin's, 807 Iowa Avenue in Onaha, Iowa from 12pm to 5pm. Gene was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker and St. Louis Cardinal's fan. Please wear red at the Celebration of Life ceremony to honor his memory.
