Obituary

On August 8, 2026, the world lost a radiant light with the passing of Evelin Paola Ortega Rodas. Born on October 31, 1986, in Coatepeque, Guatemala, Evelin’s spirit shone brightly, touching everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her infectious laughter and warm embrace filled every space she occupied, leaving an everlasting imprint on the hearts of her cherished family and friends.

While her time with us was far too short, the love, kindness, and happiness she generously shared will be treasured always.

Evelin was the beloved daughter of Daniel Rolando Ortega and Mirta Teodolinda Rodas de Ortega, and a devoted sister to Noe, Jennifer, Daniel, Jose, and Emelin. She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Daniel Rolando Ortega, and her cherished sister, Emelin Ortega.

Her love extended deeply to her nieces and nephews, whom she guided with affection and warmth, always encouraging them to believe in themselves and pursue their dreams. Her love also extended to her wonderful pups, Spots, Akira, Milo, and Benji, as well as her beloved pet turtle, Master Oogway, all of whom brought her immense joy and companionship.

A proud graduate of Central Community College in July 2023, Evelin dedicated herself to uplifting others. As someone who worked for the State of Nebraska Juvenile Probation Office in Omaha, NE, she approached her work with immense passion and compassion, striving to guide young lives toward a positive future. Her commitment to the well-being of the young people she served was truly remarkable.

Evelin will be remembered for her beautiful smile, infectious laughter, loving heart, and the way she made those around her feel valued and cared for. She had a gift for bringing warmth and joy into the lives of others, and her presence will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Though her earthly journey has come to an end, Evelin’s love will continue to live on through her family, her friends, the young lives she touched, and the countless memories she leaves behind. Her kindness and compassion will remain a lasting part of all those fortunate enough to have known her.

Evelin is survived by her beloved mother, Mirta Teodolinda Rodas de Ortega of Lexington, Nebraska; her siblings, Noe Ortega of Chelsea, Massachusetts; Jennifer Ortega of Chelsea, Massachusetts; Daniel Ortega Jr. and his wife, Maria Ortega, of Fort Worth, Texas; and Jose Ortega and his fiancée, Kate Drobny, of Dallas, Texas.

She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews: Yorick Ortega, Joshua Ortega, Keysha Ortega, Noelia Ortega, Helen Ortega, Isaac Ortega, Julian Ortega, Angy Ortega, Jimena Ortega, Emma Ortega, Danilo Ortega, Valerie Ortega, and Camila Ortega.

She joins her father, Daniel Ortega Sr., and her sister, Emelin Ortega, who preceded her in death. Though their absence leaves an immeasurable void, their love and memories remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and cherished them.

Evelin leaves behind a family who loved her deeply and will carry her memory in their hearts forever.

Though we cannot see her, her light remains—in the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the memories she left behind.

May Evelin Paola Ortega Rodas rest in eternal peace. Until we meet again
