Ezra L. Roundtree

Ezra L Roundtree was born on February 20th 1956 to the late Rufus and Lucille Roundtree in Chicago Illinois. He attended Cooley Vocational High School and in 1972 he met Vernell Jones. Shortly after they became a union and began to bring forth beautiful children.

At A young age he made a decision to enlist in the United States Army determined to serve his country and provide for his family. His unwavering commitment and dedication to those he loved were evident in everything he did. During his service he suffered a life Altering injury that left him paralyzed, but even in the face of adversity his resilience never wavered. Returning home, L.C continued to be a pillar of strength and love for his family. As a father he was nothing short of extraordinary. He taught us the true meaning of strength. Not just physical strength but strength of character, love, and Perseverance. Through every challenge he was always there with a steady heart and the greatest sense of humor. While his life was shaped by hardships he always put his family first making every sacrifice to ensure our happiness and well-being his legacy is 1 of courage and strength and it will continue to inspire all who knew him he will forever remain in our heart.

Ezra Roundtree is survived by His Brothers: Don, Tyrone, and Chester. Sister: Lucille, Daughters: Kay Shawn Roundtree (Rashad), Keyahna Moore (Teondray), Sons: Marcus Roundtree, Maurice Roundtree (Wanda) God Daughter: Lakeisha Thompson and God Son: Bucky. Proceeded in death, Parents: Lucille and Rufus Roundtree, Brother: Enoch Sisters: Charlene, Pearline, Versie and Mary. He had 13 wonderful grandchildren 1 great grandchild and a host of nieces nephews cousins and special friends.

Services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home - 90th Street. Visitation from 10 - 11 am with Funeral Service at 11 am. Service will conclude with military honors. The livestream link can be found below.
