With heavy hearts and fond memories, we celebrate the remarkable life of Floyd Dennis. Who was sent home at the age of 70 after living a life filled with laughter, love, and joy. From the moment he entered the world, he brought with him a light that never dimmed.
Floyd was born in Abbeville, Mississippi on October 30th, 1954, to the late Willie D. and Nathi Lee Griffin Dennis. He confessed Christ at an early age and united with Providence United Methodist Church. Floyd lived in St. Paul, Minnesota for many years where he worked for Ford Motor Company. There, he met Ryvonne Maria Quilla, and they were married February 4th, 2002. No children were conceived from this union. He later relocated to Omaha, Nebraska to work construction where he then joined Clair Memorial United Methodist Church.
Even when faced with challenges of a lifelong battle with Type 1 diabetes- a journey he began at just three years old, he is a true testament to resilience, as he never let his diagnosis define him. Instead, he lived boldly and unapologetically. He was the life of every party, with a quick wit, an infectious laugh, he made people feel good. He was a beloved brother, friend, and perhaps most famously, the fun uncle.
Though we will miss his laughter and his incredible spirit, we are comforted by the knowledge that we were lucky to know him, love him, and be loved by him.
Floyd was preceded in death by 6 brothers, 4 sisters, 1 sister-in-law, and 4 brothers-in-law. He leaves to cherish his memory two sisters, Mattie Young, Abbeville, Mississippi; Cora Dennes, Dallas, Texas; one sister in-law, Glennie Dennis, St. Paul, Minnesota, and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends
Rest easy, Floyd. The party up there just got a lot more fun.
