Herbert Oscar Birch

Herbert Oscar Birch was born on November 23, 1946 to Margaret and Herbert Birch in Moberly, Missouri. he was the eighth of ten children He accepted Christ at the young age of six years old. Herbert was a student in the Moberly School System. Those close to him called him Oscar.

After graduation Herbert served honorably in the United States Navy where he fought in the Vietnam War. After he moved to Omaha, Nebraska he became employed at Union Pacific Railroad where he received his welding certificate. He then went on to continue his career in welding at Nebraska Engineering (NECO), B&B Welding where he was self-employed and Railcar Specialist. After retirement he took up work at Major Plastics.

When not working, Herbert enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on cars and helping others, he was always willing to lend a hand. In addition, he easily made others laugh and smile.

Herbert leaves to cherish his memories, fiancée Joyce; daughter Lisa (Kevin) and son Timothy (Dionne) along with 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great great- grandchildren.

Herbert is preceded in death by his parents Margaret and Herbert; sisters: Eleanor, Rebecca, Frances and Mary; brothers: Howard, Sidney, George, Larry and Zachary; daughter: Crystal.

Services will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home. Visitation for family and friends from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm. Funeral Service to follow at 1:00 pm with military honors.Complete notice is pending.
