Irma Jean Johnson

November 19, 1949 — July 30, 2021

Sister Irma Jean Johnson was born into this life on November 19, 1949 to Irene (Watson) and Thomas Johnson; whom were married in a beautiful ceremony during the fall of 1948 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Irma was the first born of eight children to Irene Watson Johnson Keeton, and the second child born to Thomas Johnson. She spent the early years of her life being raised by her maternal grandparents Ulysses and Gracie Watson of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She later moved with her mother to Omaha, Nebraska and was baptized at Morning Star Baptist Church.

Irma earned her LPN license in Nursing School before achieving her bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Irma worked and served in several occupations, but her last positions were Nurse Administrator at TMS Design Inc., and Royal Oaks. At 71 years of age, Irma had held many positions where she was highly respected and admired. She also worked for Omaha Head Start, Inteli-Staffing, Gentiva, and Kimberly Quality Care, to name a few. This admiration was held not only in her profession, but Irma was the go-to person to her siblings, children, grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Family members sought out Irma before a medical procedure was done or asked of them; she served as their family "DOCTOR" and/or "medical advisor". Irma was there whenever any of her family needed her to be, that was IRMA JEAN! Her grandson stated that the way she baked was also the very way of showing just how much she cared! Irma represented the matriarch of the family baby boomers and under!

Irma also served tirelessly as the Sunday School Superintendent, and one of the financial trustees for the Prince of Peace Baptist Church for many years. To add she spear-headed Vacation Bible School for several years and also worked effortlessly towards many of the churches fund raising activities, Irma was preceded in death by her parents: Irene Watson Johnson Keeton and Thomas Johnson, brothers Spencer and Jonathon Keeton, along with several aunts, uncles and close cousins. She is survived by her 2 sons Donovan, and Anthony (Greta) Johnson of Omaha, Nebraska; 4 sisters Henrietta Johnson, Sandra Keeton, Linda Keeton Washington of Omaha, Nebraska, and Ruby Tanner of Aurora, Colorado; 2 brothers Robert Keeton (Faye) of Aurora, Colorado, and Christopher (Brenda) Keeton of Omaha, Nebraska. Maternal aunt Doris Williams, and uncle Jonathon Watson of Omaha, Nebraska; 7 grandchildren with Justine Johnson being the eldest, and 7 great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in addition to her closest college friends Rosarian Jackson-Griffith and Joyce Fantroy, along with many other of close church friends, associates.
