James Michael Revoy

James M. Revoy passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2026, in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 81, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.

Jim was born on August 25, 1944, in Superior, Wisconsin, to Ferdinand "Fred" and Hannah (Wenker) Revoy. At just six months old, he contracted polio, but that never diminished his enthusiasm for life. As a child, he developed a fascination with trains and railroads. His father worked for the railroad, and the tracks ran close to the family home. Jim often recalled that when the trains were moving slowly enough, he would jump aboard for a short ride.

Jim attended Cathedral Catholic High School in Superior. Following in the footsteps of his older brother, he enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 17. He served four years as an aircraft mechanic at Lincoln Air Force Base in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he worked on B-47 bombers.

During weekends, Jim and his friends would travel to Omaha for dances. It was there that he met the love of his life, Carol Ann Bendtsen. The two were married a year and a half later and, this past February, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Together they raised three sons: Tim, Ken, and Bob. Jim loved playing sports with his boys and proudly coached a Little League baseball team alongside his oldest son, Tim, helping lead the team to a championship.

After completing HVAC training, he earned a degree in Construction Technology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Jim began a career working in maintenance, repair, and construction-related positions at places including Wentworth Apartments, Valmont Industries, and Boys Town. In his early thirties, he took a leap of faith and embarked on a new calling: teaching others. In 1978, he joined Metropolitan Technical Community College, where he taught heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and electrical courses. It was a place and profession he truly loved, dedicating the next 39 years to helping students learn, grow, and succeed.

Jim enjoyed working with his hands and was rarely without a project. He personally finished his family's basement, including adding a bathroom, and became known throughout the neighborhood as the person to call for help. Whether repairing an air conditioner, running electrical wiring, or tackling a household repair, Jim was always willing to lend his knowledge and skills.

Jim and Carol discovered a shared love for travel and adventure, visiting destinations across the country including California, Florida, and countless places in between. He loved planes, trains, and automobiles, and his passion for train travel led them on memorable journeys. Jim approached every trip with childlike excitement, whether exploring somewhere new or returning to a favorite destination.

Jim will be remembered for his deep love of family and friends, his enjoyment of good food and travel, his willingness to challenge others to become the best versions of themselves, and his steadfast support of those he cared about. He stood beside family, friends, students, and neighbors every step of the way. Jim and Carol spent many years at St. Gerald Church.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Revoy; his sons, Tim Revoy (Theresa), Ken Revoy, and Robert Revoy; and his four grandchildren, Elise (Jordan) Banner, Jillian (Gesse) Barnes, Cassandra (Nick) Wade, and Anna Revoy. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Aria, Ember, Riley, Raiden, and Ezekiel; his brother, David Revoy; sister-in-law, Jeanette Bendtsen and Nick Kmezick; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Hannah Revoy, and his sister, Barb (Chuck) Tomzak.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 19, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Gerald Catholic Church, 9602 Q Street, Ralston, Nebraska.

A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 20, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gerald Catholic Church, 9602 Q Street, Ralston, Nebraska.
