In Loving Memory of Janice Kay Ridout
August 16, 1955 – July 5, 2026
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Janice Kay Ridout, who passed away on July 5, 2026, at the age of 70.
Janice was born on August 16, 1955, in Spencer, Iowa. She was a hardworking and dedicated woman who took great pride in her career. She spent 35 years working for Dex before continuing her career with OPPD, where she faithfully worked for another 16 years.
More than anything, Janice’s greatest joy in life was her family—especially her grandchildren. Her four grandchildren, Jeremiah, Javier, JaMari, and Baby Scott, who is expected to join the family soon, were the center of her world. They were her greatest source of happiness, and she loved them with all her heart. She never missed an opportunity to support them, encourage them, or simply spend time making memories together. Her love for them was endless, and they truly were what kept her going.
Janice is lovingly survived by her daughter, Monica Ridout; her sisters, Juanita Ridout and Joyce Ridout; her nephews, Barry, Wade, and Bryan; her nieces, Trudy and Jamie; as well as many great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Janice will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her strong work ethic, her generous heart, and the countless ways she showed up for the people she loved. Her kindness, strength, and devotion will remain an inspiration to all who knew her.
In accordance with her wishes, Janice will be cremated. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life during a visitation at Good Shepherd Funeral and Cremation Services on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Those wishing to honor Janice’s memory may send flowers or other expressions of sympathy to the funeral home. Most of all, the family asks that you remember Janice by sharing kindness, love, and compassion with those around you, just as she did throughout her life.
Though she is no longer with us, Janice’s love lives on in the hearts of her family, friends, and especially her beloved grandchildren. She will be forever loved, forever missed, and forever remembered.
