Janis Elizabeth Bell

Janis Elizabeth Bell, born on August 15, 1946, in Des Moines, Iowa, peacefully passed away on June 12, 2025, surrounded by love. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lavina and Caesar Baylis, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Janis spent most of her life in Omaha, Nebraska, where she created a home full of warmth and care for her family. A devoted mother and Nanna, she will be forever cherished by her children and many grandchildren who knew her love was unconditional and unwavering.

Her passions included tending to her garden, where she found peace in nurturing the earth, and reading books, which she enjoyed with a zest for learning and discovery. Janis expressed her love for family through the kitchen, where every meal was prepared with the utmost care and affection.

Those who had the privilege of knowing Janis will remember her kind heart, infectious laugh, and charismatic sense of humor that brought light to every room she entered. Janis’ spirit will live on through the countless memories she created, and her legacy of love, warmth, and joy will never be forgotten.

Services will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home - 90th Chapel.  Visitation from 10:00 - 11:00 AM with Funeral Service at 11:00 AM.  A luncheon will follow in the Reception Hall at Good Shepherd Funeral Home.
