Jay Banta

Jay Robert Banta passed away June 27, 2025 in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 83 years. He was born October 31, 1941 in Omaha.

Jay served as a Minister to the Nebraska Conference of the United Methodist Church for nearly 14 years. He loved his family, music, and ministering to the youth - extending this love as a Chaplain for Boys Town. He left a love of music for his children and grandchildren. #GBR

Jay is preceded in death by his parents, Jefferson and Mabel Banta; sisters Janyce Larsen and Carol Towers; and infant brother Richard Banta.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Linda Banta; children Shelby (Graham) Gittens and Matt (Frankie) Banta; grandchildren Jordan Banta, Luke Banta, Ben Banta, Mallory Riffel, Morgan Riffel, and Kenzie Riffel; and nieces, nephews, and other family.
