Jean H Flippin

Jean Haney Flippin, 84, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a lifetime of love, service, and cherished memories. Born on April 28, 1942, in Shady Grove, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Melvin and Inez Haney.

As the oldest of seven children, Jean's early years were shaped by resilience and hard work. Her family moved frequently during her childhood before settling on a dairy farm in Buford, Arkansas, where they raised milk cows and chickens. Surrounded by a large extended family, those years provided countless memories and stories that she treasured throughout her life.

Jean was a pioneer within her family, becoming the first member of her extended family to graduate from high school and later the first to earn a college education. After attending business college in Springfield, Missouri, she moved to Kansas City, where she worked for the Social Security Administration in the Federal Building.

Jean married Jimmy Flippin of Flippin, Arkansas, and together they shared 35 years of marriage while raising their three daughters.

Throughout her career, Jean demonstrated determination, leadership, and an entrepreneurial spirit. She retired as a manager from the UPS Call Center, a position of which she was especially proud. She also owned and operated two motorcycle newspapers from her home for ten years, successfully combining her love of business with her independent nature.

Jean never met a stranger. Blessed with the "gift of gab," she had a remarkable ability to connect with people, making everyone feel welcome. She was known for her wisdom, thoughtful advice, generous heart, and willingness to help others. She believed strongly in equality and fairness, courageously standing up for the rights of others. A creative thinker and natural problem solver, Jean inspired those around her to look beyond obstacles and seek new possibilities.

She found great joy in reading, gardening, traveling, and experiencing different cultures, foods, and people. Her adventurous spirit took her to all 50 states and numerous countries around the world. Yet, of all her accomplishments and adventures, nothing meant more to Jean than her family. Her greatest happiness came from spending time with her family and friends.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Inez Haney; and her siblings, Helen Gallegos, Eloise Day, Doyce Haney, and Clifford Haney.

She is lovingly remembered by her brother, Benny Haney; her sister, JoAnn Williams (David); her daughters, Jill Flippin, Julie Cain and husband Bill Cain, and Janis Flippin; her grandchildren, Jarred Miller (Dave), Lewis Cain (Jess), Angel Zobel (Geoff); six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Jean's remarkable life was defined not by the places she traveled or the positions she held, but by the kindness she extended, the wisdom she shared, the courage with which she lived, and the love she gave

so freely. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of compassion, generosity, resilience, and acceptance that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Jean will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of her family and friends.

There will be no funeral service. Per her request an Ice Cream Social with be held in her memory.
