Johnitta Guinzy (Meister) was born December 22, 1948, in West Point, Nebraska, was raised in Snyder Nebraska, and worked at Schneider's Grocery Store part-time. She graduated from Snyder High School in 1967, then began working at Mutual of Omaha. Throughout her career, she also worked in medical billing at both Clarkson and Good Samaritan hospitals. She really loved her jobs and helping her patients.
She met her husband Vincent in late 1970 and was married on February 20, 1971, at Offutt Air Force Base chapel. The couple was happily married for 54 years. They started their marriage in Collinsville Illinois and then they moved, moved, and moved before settling in Omaha, Nebraska.
Together they had two sons, Sean and Christopher Guinzy, both of Omaha Nebraska, and one grandson Dylan Guinzy of Lincoln Nebraska, that she never missed his sporting events. Johnitta was known to be very vocal during these sporting events including yelling to her grandson to "Run like hell" at a baseball game.
She was an avid Husker fan, of all sports, but volleyball was the nearest and dearest to her heart. Johnitta was a self-proclaimed armchair co-coach, with JoAnn Leach (cousin) of the St. Louis Cardinals, which was her favorite baseball team.
She enjoyed traveling and never found a winery or casino she didn't like. Some of her favorites were the Tin Lizzie (short for Elizabeth, Johnitta's mothers name) casino in Deadwood South Dakota and Rich Harvest winery in Syracuse Nebraska. Johnitta was outdoors as much as she could be, either fishing or sitting on her swing with her husband. Her favorite music included Elvis and Kenny Rogers.
The small-town girl never left her personality. She loved everyone she met and lit up any room she walked into. The thing in life she was most proud of was her family, she absolutely cherished the life her and Vincent created together.
Johnitta was preceded in death by her parents John & Elizabeth Meister (Burger); her brothers Robert Meister, Roland Meister, Paul Meister, Gerald Meister, Lawrence Meister & wife Clara Meister; sisters Henrietta Spizzirri (Meister) and husband Leroy Spizzirri; and brother-in-law Dick Taylor.
