Jon Cornelius Toomsen, age 75, passed away at home on May 1, 2024. Jon was born May 10, 1948 to Cornelius and Lucille (Burkley) Toomsen of Geneva, IA. He graduated high school in 1966 and entered the Army in 1968. He served his country in Vietnam earning a Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service stars, and many other medals for his valor. After returning home he attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where he graduated with a BA in Accounting. Jon married Janet Zentner in 1975 and they had two children, Matthew and Erin. After graduation Jon worked for the Department of Revenue in Lincoln, NE and a CPA firm in Columbus, NE before going on to start Computer Solutions in Omaha, NE. Jon enjoyed golfing and being outdoors with family and friends.
Jon is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Elvera Muhlenbruch and Vivolyn Butler. He is survived by his former wife Janet Toomsen of Shubert, NE, his children Matthew (Rebecca) Toomsen of Omaha, NE and Erin (Lucas) Keppy of Bettendorf, IA, four grandchildren Andrew and Abigail Toomsen and Lucille and Lillian Keppy, sister Judith Smith of Aurora, CO, and many nieces and nephews.
