Omaha

Julia Rene Belt, beloved mother, Nana, sister, family member, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on July 15, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 65 years old.

Julia was born on July 31, 1960, in Omaha, Nebraska. She lived a life defined by strength, independence, kindness, and an unwavering love for those closest to her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Alda Zaracki.

Julia proudly dedicated many years of service to Black Hills Energy, where she most recently served as the Meter Shop Coordinator. Throughout her career, she took on many responsibilities across the company and was always willing to step in wherever she was needed. Her versatility, strong work ethic, and commitment made her an invaluable member of the team. More than a respected employee, Julia was a trusted friend and colleague whose kindness, dependability, and warm sense of humor left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to work alongside her.

Outside of work, Julia embraced life with enthusiasm. She loved country music and attending live concerts, where she could enjoy the songs and memories that meant so much to her. She loved spending time outdoors and appreciated the beauty and peace found in nature. Julia was a strong, independent woman who lived life on her own terms, finding joy in the simple moments and creating memories with the people she loved.

Above all else, Julia's greatest joy was her family. She lived for her children and grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them. She was a devoted mother whose love knew no bounds and a proud Nana who found endless happiness in watching her grandchildren grow. Her family was the center of her world, and her unconditional love, strength, and generosity will continue to live on through each of them.

Julia is lovingly survived by her children: Will Belt (Winter Rose), Constance "Connie" Smith (James Kinman), Christopher (Amanda) Smith, Hilton W. (Allison) Smith III, Courtney Hansen, Shane Smith (Elizabeth Carter), James Belt III, and Titania Morrison; her siblings: Nina (Joe) Stewart, Richard (Jean) Knapp, and Patricia (Ray) Ketelsen; along with a host of cherished grandchildren, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives she touched.

Julia will be remembered for her warm heart, resilient spirit, laughter, independence, and the deep love she gave so freely. Whether she was enjoying her favorite country songs, spending time outdoors, or surrounded by the family she adored, Julia brought her own special light into the lives of those around her. Though she will be profoundly missed, her memory will live on through the stories shared, the lessons she taught, and the love she leaves behind.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Julia's life on Friday, July 31, 2026-what would have been her 66th birthday. Services will be held at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 90th Street Chapel. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Gathering on her birthday is a fitting tribute to a life so well lived and so deeply loved.

Forever loved as a mother, cherished as a Nana, treasured as a sister, and remembered as a friend, Julia's legacy of strength, laughter, kindness, and unconditional love will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
