Karen Brown-Legon, a beloved mother, wife, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 27, 2025, at the age of 65.
Born in Forest City, Arkansas, to O.V. Dortch Sr. and O’Dell Marie Dortch, Karen relocated to Omaha, Nebraska, at a young age.
Karen dedicated her life to her faith in Christ from a young age and cherished her relationship with the Lord. Before her passing, she went to clean her church, Christ Temple.
Karen commenced her professional career at the age of 14 and retired from Airlite Plastic after 22 years of dedicated service. Beyond her exceptional work ethic, Karen was deeply committed to her family. Following the passing of her parents, she assumed the responsibility of keeping her family together. She shared 22 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Everest Legon, and their union spanned 40 years.
Karen is survived by her husband, Everest Legon; her two daughters, Unique and Shaniece Brown; Niece/Daughter Jasmine Dortch and her two grandchildren, Amilyon Brown and Arion Carter Jr. Her sisters include Barbara Mooney, Catherine Rogers, Jeanette Dortch, and Ozella Dortch. Her brothers are O.V. Dortch Jr., Obie Dortch, and Melvin Dortch.
Karen will be fondly remembered for her warmth, quiet strength, and the profound joy she brought to those fortunate enough to know her.
