Obituary

Karen Jones, 63, passed away on June 7, 2026, in Omaha, NE.

A Life Filled With Love, Faith, and Quiet Strength

Karen Marie Jones was a woman whose presence brought warmth, steadiness, and joy to everyone blessed to know her. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, to the late John Jones Jr. and Emma Jean (Richardson) Jones, Karen grew up in a loving family as one of three children. Her early years were shaped by deep family bonds and a strong foundation.

At a young age, Karen accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior-a decision that guided her steps, shaped her character, and anchored her through every season of life.

Karen received her education in the Omaha Public Schools system and attended Benson High School, where she built lasting friendships and began to discover her strengths, interests, and sense of purpose. Her school years reflected the same qualities she carried throughout her life: kindness, determination, and a quiet but steady resilience.

A Woman of Simple Joys and Beautiful Traditions

Karen was known for the things that made her uniquely her:

Her love of privacy, her passion for purses, and her signature color, purple

She found joy in scrapbooking, preserving memories with care and creativity. These keepsakes became treasures for her family-reminders of the moments she held close.

Karen also enjoyed watching her favorite shows, especially HGTV and Swamp People. Watching Swamp People with her grandchildren became a cherished family ritual. She loved the show so much that she and the grandchildren created a game inspired by it-one they played often, filling the room with laughter and excitement.

One of Karen's greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren whether it was teaching her granddaughter Mary how to cook or playing video games with her grandson's Isaac, Xavier and Isaiah. Their time together-mixing ingredients, sharing stories, and singing side by side and playing games became some of their most precious memories. Karen's love was always expressed through the simple, meaningful moments she created with her family.

A Legacy That Lives On

Karen leaves behind a family who adored her and will forever carry her memory in their hearts:

Her children: Jamar Jones and TeMeka Jones, siblings: Kimberly J. (David) McPhaul, Kathy L. Jones, Sarah (Jered) Adams, and Johnny Jones, grandchildren: Isaac Marcell Jones, Mary Marie Jones, Xavier Lee Jones, and Isaiah Thomas Jones, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends who were touched by her kindness and love.

Karen's life was a testament to quiet strength, unwavering love, and the beauty of simple joys. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her devotion to her family, and the traditions she created that will continue to live on through generations.

Forever in Our Hearts

Though Karen has transitioned from this life, her love remains-woven into the memories she created, the lessons she taught, and the family she cherished. Her legacy is one of faith, family, and the kind of love that never fades.

May her soul rest in eternal peace, and may her memory continue to be a blessing to all who knew her.

There will be a Memorial Service for Karen on Monday, June 15, 2026 at Good Shepherd Funeral Home - 90th Chapel. Visitation for family and friends from 10:00 - 11:00 AM with Memorial Service at 11:00 AM. The repass will be in the Good Shepherd Reception Hall following the service.
