Larry was born in Blair, NE to Clarence and Ingrid (Jensen) Matzen on June 26, 1945. He grew up on the family farm near Kennard, NE. After graduating from Blair High School in 1963, he served our country by joining the Army and did a tour in Viet Nam. He started plants from seeds for his garden as well as some of his neighbors' gardens. He enjoyed talking to the neighbors, as well as anyone else he might meet. He loved his wife, Kitty, all of his family and friends, and especially, our God who sent His Son Jesus to save us.
