Lewis Barnes

Lewis Garwood Barnes, Jr. passed away February 13, 2024 in Omaha, NE at the age of 76 years. He was born August 25, 1947 in Augusta, Georgia.

Lewis is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis G Barnes, Sr. and Irene Short Barnes; brother Robert Barnes; and sister Becky Barnes McBeath. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Marilyn Barnes; children, Sidney Lee Barnes, Lewis Garwood Barnes III, Lance William Barnes, Wendy (Scott Holman) Kirkle, Kevin (Lynn) Kirkle, Demi Sims, and Deon Sims; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; siblings Lucy (Howard †) Barnes Fanning, Russell Barnes, and Richard Barnes; and nieces, nephews, and other family.

Lewis proudly served in the Navy from 1966-1968 and was deployed in Vietnam and Thailand. Post-military, a common thread throughout his business career and personal life was his love of people and putting smiles on their faces. He was strong, devoted, kind, generous, and loving.

He will be missed and remembered by the countless lives he touched.
