“A woman who lived boldly, loved deeply, and spoke her truth.”
Linda May Edwards (Rivers) was born on May 31, 1952, in Des Moines, Iowa, and went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 3, 2025. Linda grew up in Des Moines and graduated from Des Moines Technical High School in 1970. She later continued her education at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC), where she completed trade school as an offset printer. She took great pride in her craft and was known for her determination, and attention to detail.
Linda was a woman who spoke her mind—if she had something to say, you were going to hear it! That was one of the things that made her so special. She was real, honest, and unapologetically herself. Beneath that bold personality was a loving, loyal, and protective spirit. She loved her family deeply and took pride in watching them grow and thrive.
Linda leaves behind a legacy of love through her children, Kimberly Barnes and Curtis Edwards, and her cherished grandchildren: Dion Barnes (wife Jordan), Khea Barnes, Ebony Morrison-Edwards, Damari Morrison-Edwards, Ramone Edwards, Miguel Edwards, and Auvyionce Edwards. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Bryton and Rowan, who always brought a smile to her face.
Linda is survived by her brother Charles Rivers Jr., and was preceded in death by her beloved brother Larry Rivers.
She will also be fondly remembered by Curtis’s partner, Jameca Kellum, who were all dear to Linda’s heart.
To know Linda was to love her—and to be loved by her meant you always had someone in your corner. Her presence filled every room she entered, and her laughter, wisdom, and honesty will never be forgotten. Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories, the lessons, and the love she shared. Linda’s spirit will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
Your voice, your laughter, your love —they echo in all of us. You taught us strength, honesty, and heart. We’ll carry you with us always.
