Lucille Collins

June 28, 1939 — February 20, 2023

Mother Lucille Collins was born June 28, 1939, to the late Stephen and Fannie Mae Banks in Cruger, Mississippi. Lucille was affectionately known as "Babyname" to many that knew and loved her. Lucille was a warm, compassionate, and loving person.

Mother Collins confessed her faith in Christ at an early age. She was baptized at Gordon Chapel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J.M. Jackson in Cruger, Mississippi. She received her education at the Holmes County School District in Cruger, Mississippi, where she graduated from high school.

Mother Collins met George T Collins Sr. in Cruger, Mississippi. Then on September 17, 1961, she united in holy matrimony in Cruger, Mississippi. To this union, six children were born.

Mother Collins was a faithful St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church member in Omaha, Nebraska. She served on the Mother's Board until her health failed. Mother Collins loved listening to preachers, and she loved quartet music. She traveled around the country singing with the Collin's Singers. Mother Collins would travel with ministers to other states. She loved to serve the Lord, and she loved church. She was an active member of the Daughter of Isis in the Masonic Temple in Omaha for many years until her health began to fail her.

Mother Collins had many years of work experience. She started work at a young age on her family's farm in the hills of Cruger, Mississippi. She later moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where she worked as a housekeeper at the New Tower Inn. Then in 1965, she moved to Peoria, Illinois, where she worked as a nurse at the Saint Francis Hospital for 17 years. Then in December 1983, she moved back to Omaha, Nebraska, where she worked at Douglas County Hospital as a Nurse Aide. She also drove the school bus for Omaha Public Schools. She worked at Kellogg as a security guard. Six years later, she started working for the Nebraska Office of the Ages as a Foster Grandparent at Belvedere Elementary School, where she retired two years ago.
