Margaret Singleton was born on September 26, 1947, in Gholson, Mississippi, to John Henry Turner and Ina Ree Turner. Margaret was the fifth of seven children.
She attended Whisenton High School in DeKalb, Mississippi. The family moved to Omaha, Nebraska, in 1960, and she attended Technical High School, Horace Mann Jr. High, and graduated from North High School in 1966.
Margaret married Sam Singleton in 1966, and they had identical twin boys named Chris and Kevin Singleton.
She worked at Western Electric and Juvenile Court in Omaha, Nebraska, until the family relocated to Parsippany Hills, New Jersey. The twins attended and graduated from Parsippany Hills High School in 1985. They were both recruited by the University of Arizona to play football. Margaret did not like being left behind, so she packed up and moved to Tucson, Arizona, to be closer to the twins. Both sons graduated from the University of Arizona in 1990. Both were expected to be drafted to play in the NFL. Chris was drafted by the New England Patriots. However, Kevin became ill with leukemia and was not drafted. Because they were identical twins, Chris was able to donate bone marrow, which saved his life.
Kevin moved to Phoenix after receiving the bone marrow transplant. Chris purchased a home in Phoenix and asked Margaret to move into the house to take care of it while he was playing in the NFL.
At this time, Margaret decided to pursue her college degree, and she enrolled in the University of Phoenix. After the completion of her degree and Chris's retirement from the NFL, she moved back to Tucson and became the Public Information Officer at Pima County, and she was employed there until her retirement.
She moved back to Omaha after retiring to be closer to family and resumed her membership at Salem Baptist Church.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Ina Ree Turner; two brothers, Johnnie and Willie Turner; and one sister, Doris Perkins.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Chris (Brenda) and Kevin Singleton; grandchildren, Kaelan Samantha Singleton, Nicholas James Singleton, and Sydney Singleton; sisters, Cleo Holmes, Barbara Smith, and Peggy Mackey-Sy (Thierno); and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends that held a special place in her heart.
