Margie was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 30, 2026. Born August 15, 1944, to the late Walter and Bernice (Steinbrink) Rieschick in Falls City Nebraska. Margie lived life on the farm with her sister Helen and brothers Harold and Leonard. She graduated from Falls City High School and moved to Omaha to seek employment.
She got a job at Central States Insurance and lived in an apartment with three other ladies. One of her co-workers told her she had to meet Bill, a cook at Black Angus. Bill and Margie went on a blind date to a movie with another couple. This was the beginning of a life long love story that lasted over 63 years.
Bill and Margie had two children Stephanie Renee and Steven Richard. They settled in Millard and raised their children with more love than anyone can imagine. They had the cleanest house in the U.S. because Margie was the most amazing housekeeper. Margie held various jobs as the kids were growing up. The home was adorned with numerous rose bushes, moss rose, and marigolds. Margie loved to garden. The family took monthly trips to Falls City to spend time with the Rieschick family. Margie was very active at her church; she and Bill prepared meals for various events at the church.
Margie was not a world traveler but went on family trips to visit relatives. Cousins in Colorado, Chicago and Michigan. Always a great time and lasting memories made.
Margie and Bill decided to build a new home and they found a lot near Elmwood Park. The gardening changed to shade plants and Margie planted numerous hostas and impatiens.
Margie possessed a deep affection for children, evidenced by the many hours she spent with her great-niece, Emilee, whom she loved as her own granddaughter. Her heart was especially full for her grandson, Bradley; he was the center of her and Bill's world. Bradley never had a traditional babysitter, as his parents' time away was always spent in the care of his Grandma and Grandpa. Margie took immense pride in the strong, hardworking man Bradley has become.
Margie had a deep passion for the holidays, finding great joy in cooking and baking for her family. Her Christmas preparations began in earnest the day after Thanksgiving. The house was decorated from top to bottom including 50 Dickens Village Houses and three Christmas trees. She baked at least twelve different cookie varieties and made sure the freezer was always well-stocked to keep everyone supplied throughout the season. Her signature dishes included Danish Puff and Apple Squares, as well as her famous meatloaf, a particular favorite of Steven's, who cherished his mother's cooking.
The Reischick family has held a reunion every year on Memorial Day weekend. Originally held in Falls City, the event eventually moved to Margie's backyard in Omaha, Nebraska, and has always been the highlight of the year. Thankfully Margie was able to host this year's reunion and family was able to see her one last time.
Margie's gentle spirit, wonderful smile, and boundless hospitality touched the lives of countless individuals. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcomed and loved, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.
While our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort and joy in the knowledge that Margie is now in the glorious presence of her Lord, where she has found eternal peace and rest. Her memory will be cherished, and her spirit of love, faith, and family will continue to inspire us all.
Margie is survived by her loving husband Bill, daughter Stephanie (Eric), son Steven (Jennifer), grandson Bradley, many cousins and extended family and friends who loved her dearly.
