Marquis LeChel McClain, was born in Omaha, NE on March 13, 1985 to Demetrius McClain and Gregory Spurlock. A lifelong resident of Omaha, Marquis attended Howard Kennedy and Minne Lusa Elementary Schools, graduating from Benson High School in 2003. After graduating high school, she worked several jobs throughout her life including positions in customer service and collections as a bill collector.
Marquis grew up with a love for reading. Her love included reading urban books, her favorite being "Gal," by Ruthie Mae Bolten, a true story about a young black girl growing up. She read this book over and over again.
Marquis, nicknamed "Kiecy" by her family, loved to go out and have fun. You could say she was the life of the party, to say the least. She also enjoyed spending time with her children, Tre' and Veah. She was determined to do everything in her power to ensure Tré, a senior in high school, graduated next year. That was her ultimate goal and will be one of her proudest moments. Marquis passed away unexpectedly, but quietly, in her sleep on December 15, 2022. She had an overflow of friends whom she loved dearly, and she will be missed by all who loved her as well.
