Mary Hubka Mohrman

September 10, 1930 — April 7, 2026

Mary was born in Beatrice, NE and passed away peacefully in Omaha, NE. She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Charles 'Chick' Mohrman; parents, Ernest and Thelma Hubka; in-laws, Roscoe and Eunice Mohrman, Fred and Maisie Paustian, and Paulette Mohrman. Survived by daughters, Nancy (Bruce) Smith, Sara (Jim) Masters, and Amy (Roger) Olson; sister, Sara (Tom) Woodward; brother-in-law, Gordon Mohrman; grandsons and great grandchildren, John Masters, Scott (Katie; Jack and Carter) Smith, David (Kelly; Mason and Ryan) Masters, and Brian (Amanda; Brooklyn) Smith; and nieces and nephews.

Capturing 95 years of a well-lived life is a challenging task. Mary was not just a daughter, wife, mother, sister, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was a world traveler with an adventurous soul and a truly wonderful social hostess. Her husband's career with GMAC meant a move every three years. Mary looked at each move as a new adventure.

The final move took the family to Fargo in 1972. Mary and Chick loved Fargo and the large number friends they made over the years. These same friendships caused them to join fellow Fargoans in spending winters in Ft. Myers, FL. After Chick's passing in 2016, Mary made it clear that Fargo was her home and remained there until December 2025, when she decided to move to Omaha to be closer to family.

Mary dearly loved her Nebraska Cornhusker football team. This likely started at an early age, as her father was Captain of the 1920 team. Mary graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, was a proud member of the Delta Gamma Sorority, and was inducted into the Mortar Board Society. Even in her later years, Mary attended Husker football games and cheered on the team.

Mary often commented on what a great life she had and was so looking forward to rejoining Chick. Some people believe in fate, many of us believe in a higher power. We think Chick called down and said, "Mary it's time. I miss you." She would have joined him on the exact 10th anniversary date of his passing, but knowing Mary, she needed to pack and it took one more day. Our family knows they are together again on heaven's patio. Chick is telling her about his recent golf game and Mary is sharing family news while sipping on a gin martini.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. For more information, please contact First Presbyterian Church (701) 293-6311. Memorials can be made to First Presbyterian Church in Fargo, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
