Matthew John Brown

Jan 17, 1975 — Jun 15, 2026

Matthew (Matty) John Brown passed away June 15, 2026 in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 51 years. He was born January 17, 1975 in St.Paul, Nebraska.

Matthew was diagnosed with ALS in March 2025. He fought so hard through this terrible disease.

Matthew loved adventure and travel. He spent his last months watching shows about Amtrak trips and cruises. Saying he could see the places he'd been to and places he'd never get to see. He loved taking the train to Chicago to meet his friends. Matt loved music, concerts and movies. He knew all of the latest artists and movies and loved sharing his opinions about them. Good or bad he did not hold back. He was an artist and a writer who never thought any of his work was good enough even though his friends and family were always amazed by his talent. Matt had his Associates Degree in graphic art design and was one semester away from his Bachelor's degree at UNO. He continued his classes when he couldn't speak and finally had to stop when he could no longer write or type. Matt was an avid reader from the age of 4 and never quit. He always had at least one or more books going at one time. He loved to wander around the library or the local independent bookstore, 'the worm'. He loved to cook and go to restaurants. He tried every new product that hit the store shelves. Matt had a wit like no other. He could be saying something mean to you yet you would have to laugh! He would also surprise you with all of the sweet things he would do. We all learned so much from him.

He will be greatly missed.Matthew is preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Barbara Brown; and sister Mary Brown. He is survived by his siblings Cassie Brown, Chris (Mary) Brown, Jenny Brown, Andrea (Randy) Berch, and Mike (Kari) Brown; nieces and nephews Alison, Marcy, Tobie, Kelly, Andrew, Jonathan, Logan, and Bailey; great-nieces and nephews Hannah, Sam, Eli, Luke, Chase, Aiden, Miles, Clara, and other family, many friends; and his beloved Corgi Nora.
