Michael J. Tapio

Michael came into this world on Thursday December 28th, 1961 and traveled his final path on Thursday May 1st, 2025. He was here for 63 years, 4 months & 3 days.

He was preceded by his parents, Louis & Jean, brother John and nephew Adam Tapio.

He is survived by siblings & spouses, Rich & Carol, Jim & Dodi, Alice & Terry Diaz, Kathleen, Robert & Carmen & Mark Tapio, as well as several nieces & nephews.

Michael enjoyed life and he made friends with most everyone he met. Although he was never married, he cared deeply for his nieces & nephews. To him, they were his kids. He remembered things from years ago as if they recently occurred. Like our Father, his laugh was infectious and he had his dear Mother’s Irish sense of humor. Michael loved good simple food, especially things like our Mom's spaghetti & meatballs, her fried chicken, cabbage rolls, chili & goulash. He would ask my sisters to make these and other dishes for him all the time. Michael was not a particularly religious man but he was deeply spiritual. In a sense, Michael was the most Lakota Sioux of all of us. He experienced many sweat lodges and the healing practices of Native American tribes on his journey to find his place in the world. He loved all music, Native American Culture, arts & crafts, walking in the forest and just being outdoors enjoying the sunshine or the rain. Michael was a gentle human being with a great love for his family & friends and he spoke with them often. He would graciously help anyone in need with almost anything.

We will all cherish his memory and he will be sorely missed by the people who knew and loved him.

All Michael wanted was for people to treat each other with love, kindness & respect. He is now in that place.
