Yvonne Huff

Myrtle "Yvonne" Huff was born on February 13, 1936, in Pawnee City, Nebraska. She was the seventh of ten children and grew up surrounded by the love, laughter, and lifelong friendships of her large family. Her brothers and sisters were not only siblings but also some of her very best friends.

Family meant everything to Yvonne. She especially treasured the family reunions that were held every two years in a different sibling's hometown. She never missed a reunion and looked forward to every opportunity to catch up with her brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. Those gatherings filled her heart with joy and created memories she cherished throughout her life.

Yvonne met the love of her life, Dale Huff, and they were married in December 1957. Soon afterward, they embarked on a grand adventure together, moving to Monterey, California, while Dale served in the United States Army. After two years, they returned to Omaha, where they built a beautiful life together and raised their family.

Together, Dale and Yvonne welcomed three children: Todd, Jill, and Jennifer.

Yvonne was the definition of a loving mother. She was kind, gentle, patient, and always willing to listen. She chose to stay home to raise her children until Jennifer began kindergarten, creating a home filled with warmth, comfort, and unconditional love. No matter what life brought, her children always knew they had a safe place to land in their mom's arms. She offered wisdom without judgment, encouragement without hesitation, and love without limits.

In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Yvonne cherished the lifelong friendships she built over the years. She was the ultimate "girls' girl," maintaining a close-knit circle of friends for more than fifty years. Together they played countless games of bridge, bowled many frames, and shared laughter and memories that lasted a lifetime. Yvonne excelled at both bridge and bowling, but it was the friendships themselves that she valued most.

Her greatest joy came in being "Grandma Von" to her beloved grandchildren: Kylan, Mitchell, Jackson, Tanner, Emmett, Benny, and Bailey. Sleepovers at Grandma Von's house became treasured childhood memories. The days often included a trip to the park and a walk to Family Dollar, followed by evenings filled with homemade chocolate malts, popcorn, and time spent simply enjoying one another. To her grandchildren, Grandma's house wasn't just a place—it was a feeling of love, safety, and happiness.

Yvonne's life was one of quiet strength, boundless energy, unwavering kindness, and devotion to the people she loved. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, friendship, and family that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

On July 30, 2026, Yvonne reunited with her beloved son, Todd, her family, and countless dear friends who went before her. We imagine her catching up on all the news, surrounded by the people she loved most. We can almost hear her laughter echoing through Heaven, just as it did here on Earth.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that her love, kindness, and gentle spirit will live on through all those whose lives she touched.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.

Celebration of Life

A Celebration of Life honoring Yvonne Huff will be held on

Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 5:00–7:00 p.m.

at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 

4712 S. 82nd Street, Omaha, NE 68127.

Join us as family and friends gather to celebrate Yvonne’s life. Following a meal, guests will have the opportunity to share memories, stories, and special moments that reflect the love, kindness, and joy Yvonne brought to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. This will be a time to honor a woman who treasured family, friendship, and the connections she made throughout her life.
