Odie V. Coleman of Omaha, Nebraska, was born in Gholson, Mississippi to Roy and Annie Matt (Parks) Coleman. He spent his younger years between Gholson, Mississippi, and Omaha, Nebraska. As a young adult, he returned to Omaha, Nebraska, establishing himself and providing for his family through construction work, before starting his own mechanic business, Coleman & Sons because of his love for automobiles.
He is preceded in death by his son, Johnny Russell Reed, his daughter, La'Sandra "Cookie" Manning-Hunt, his granddaughter, La'Sandra "Tootie" Coleman, his grandson, Johnny Russell Reed, II, brother, Johnny C. Coleman, parents, Roy & Annie Matt Coleman, grandparents, Robert & Annie (Haynes) Coleman and Willie and Nellie Parks, brothers-in-law, Ike Scott and Morris James Jackson, and niece Linda S. Scott.
He leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memory his children Glenda "Glynis" Coleman-Lucas, Sandra V. Coleman, Bertha Jane Coleman, Shawnetta Coleman, all of California; Herbert Coleman, Nebraska; Lisa (Freddie) Hardrick, Alabama; LaTonia (Vincent) Johnson, Kentucky; Da' Quisha (Brandon) Whitaker, Nebraska; Da' Keisha (Lorenzo) Johnson, Maryland; Darrell Granderson, II, Nebraska; sisters Doris Estell, Annie P. Scott, and Earline Jackson, Nebraska; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends, including good friends Marla Granderson and Jennie Mae Coleman-Nunn, and longtime friend, Lannie Manning.
