Patricia Ann Lenton (Long) (Grixby) passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026, at 12:59 a.m. at Creighton Bergan Mercy Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 20, 2026, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home - 90th Street Chapel. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with funeral services immediately following.
Patricia was born on November 8, 1944, in Omaha, Nebraska, to George Grixby Sr. and Pauline Grixby. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, George Grixby Jr., Gloria Creighton, William Grixby Sr., Lillian Johnson, Judy McCullough, Ronald Grixby, Lois Jean Thomas, and Tony Russell.
She is survived by her siblings, Arlene Ellis and Michael Grixby; her children, Kenneth Long Jr. (Sharon), Dewayne Long, and Donna Sanders; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Patricia attended St. Benedict School and later graduated from Tech High School in Omaha. Demonstrating determination and perseverance, she earned her GED in May 1985.
She worked for Mail-Well for more than 30 years until the company closed in November 2001. Following that chapter of her life, she continued serving her community through her work as a Food Service Assistant with Omaha Public Schools and Millard Public Schools, where she remained until her retirement.
A woman of unwavering faith, Patricia gave her life to Christ in 1986. Her relationship with God became the cornerstone of her life and the foundation of her family. Through her example, prayers, and guidance, she helped lead her children, grandchildren, and many others to Christ.
Patricia was the heart of her family. She was the person everyone called for advice, encouragement, and support. Her home was always open, and her helping hand was extended to younger siblings, family members, friends, and anyone in need. Her kindness, generosity, and selfless spirit touched countless lives.
Her love for sports was boundless. She was a devoted fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and especially enjoyed basketball. One of her greatest joys was attending the sporting events of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cheering them on with pride and enthusiasm. She also loved traveling, spending time with family, and enjoying friendly games of checkers, dominoes, and bingo.
Patricia's legacy is one of faith, strength, compassion, and unconditional love. The values she instilled, the lives she touched, and the family she cherished will continue to reflect her light for generations to come.
