On July 30, 2025, Patricia Marie Poler Suiter—our beloved Mom, GrandPatty, and dear friend—peacefully joined the band of Heaven’s Angels. With her family gathered around her, she left this world wrapped in love—just as she had lived every day of her remarkable life.
Born on November 22, 1931, to Sarah and Patrick Poler, Patty was raised in a home where faith, family, and compassion were central—and she embodied those values throughout her 93 beautiful years.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Joseph Poler; her beloved husband, Jim Suiter; her daughter, Michelle Serlet; and her grandson, Danny Serlet. We hold onto the hope and comfort of her heavenly reunion with them—a joy-filled welcome home.
She is survived by her children—Renae (Greg) Green, Suzette Woodward, Jim (Sandy) Suiter, Simone Benson, and Steve (Assumpta) Suiter; son-in-law Dan Serlet—along with 23 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren, each carrying a piece of her beautiful spirit.
Patty was a woman of deep faith and devotion. A lifelong Catholic, she loved the Lord with her whole heart, and lived her life in service to others—with gentleness, strength, and grace. She didn’t just talk about her faith—she lived it, every day, through kindness, humility, and love in action.
She earned her nursing degree from Creighton University in Omaha and served as a nursing supervisor at Bergan Mercy Hospital. Known for her compassion and leadership, Patty’s care left a lasting impression on both her patients and peers. Even years after retiring, people still remembered the way she made them feel—safe, comforted, and truly cared for.
Patty was also a devoted and loving wife to Jim—Dad, GrandDaddy—her true partner in life. When he fell ill, she became his tireless caregiver, pouring every ounce of love and strength into caring for him. Her devotion taught us what it means to honor your vows and to serve with the heart of Jesus.
In the final chapter of her life, for five and a half years, Patty was lovingly cared for by her youngest daughter, Simone. Their time together was a powerful expression of love and grace—marked by patience, laughter, music, and quiet, sacred moments. Simone’s devotion reflected the very lessons her mother had taught throughout her life: to serve with humility, to love without limits, and to be present for the people who matter most.
Patty had a flair for life that was impossible to miss. She loved being on stage and had a passion for performing. Acting brought her joy, and she had a natural ability to light up a room—whether she was in front of an audience or surrounded by family.
She adored music, and even in her final days, when her memory faded, the lyrics of her favorite songs still lived in her heart. She sang through pain, through silence, through time—reminding us all of the power of music, memory, and the soul’s deep desire to celebrate life.
She was also a fashionista in the truest sense—sparkly clothes, stylish accessories, and her ever-present final touch: lipstick. She never left home without it, and she always had one nearby—ready to offer a fresh coat to anyone she thought needed a little lift. It was her way of spreading love and confidence, one smile at a time.
Patty’s creativity extended into everything she did. She loved decorating her home, finding treasures at garage sales, and creating beautiful, one-of-a-kind art pieces. Her paintings and crafts were full of color, joy, and her unmistakable touch.
Patty, Mom, GrandPatty—your life was a masterpiece. You taught us how to live with purpose, to love with abandon, and to serve with joy. You will be missed in ways words can’t fully express—but we carry your legacy with us, in our homes, in our hearts, in our songs, and in our everyday lives.
Rest in peace, beautiful soul. We will keep singing your songs, wearing our lipstick, and loving like you taught us—until we meet again.
