Obituary

Patty Jo Jones (Jensen) 74, of Omaha, NE, passed away on October 11, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Patty was born on November 4, 1951, in Atlantic, IA, to Shirley Jensen (Poch) and Clyde Jensen.

Patty grew up on her family’s farm in Exira, Iowa. She graduated from Exira High School. Patty later obtained her Bachelor’s degree in accounting and worked for Bellevue University in the Registrar’s office, where she retired from in 2017.

To know Patty was to love her. She embraced anyone she met and opened her heart and home to them. She was one who always spoke her mind, whether you liked it or not. She was the most kind, gentle, and sassy person you could know. In the words of her granddaughter, Shakira, “she loved a good fuss.”

Her family was truly the most important to her. She was complex yet so simple. It did not take much to make her happy. A good Neil Diamond song, some Rumchata, a bowl of kind bud, and spending time with family and friends was all she seemed to need or want. She enjoyed and cherished her visits with her grandchildren and especially loved sharing memories with them about growing up on the farm.

She had a story for anyone who visited her home about every picture hanging on her wall, every nick knack, even every plant she had. She was sentimental and everything had meaning for her. She truly cherished every moment, every hug and everyone she knew. Although she is no longer with us physically, her memory will live on forever in every holiday, every Neil Diamond song, and in all of our hearts.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father and husband, Harvey Jones.

She is survived by her children, Tiffany Tomety, James (Taffin) Holbert, Crystal (Francisco) Sanchez; her grandchildren: Jaiden Holbert, Joaquin Holbert Castillo, Tyesn Hancock, Aliya Tafoya, Shakira Holbert Tafoya, Trevin Holbert, Francisco Sanchez, Israel Sanchez, Akhillez Kemp, Khaleesi Anderson, Teagan Holbert; great-grandchildren, Antonyo Plentywounds Castillo and Cattleya Castillo; siblings, Bruce (Glenda) Jensen, Barb (Dave) Christopher, Judy (Larry) Littlefield; many nephews, nieces, cousins and an abundance of friends.

A celebration of life will be held on November 7, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6340 N 30th St, Omaha, NE 68111. Service will begin at 11:00 with lunch served afterwards.
