Omaha

Phyllis Eileen (Toy) McCawley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully entered into eternal rest on February 29, 2024, at the age of 93. Phyllis was born on July 13, 1930, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Arthur and Marion Toy. She was raised alongside her six siblings in South Omaha and graduated from South High School in 1947. On April 14, 1951, Phyllis married the love of her life, Terence E. McCawley.

Phyllis and Terry built a beautiful family together, blessed with six children, 18 grandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren. As a dedicated homemaker, Phyllis not only cared for her own children but also opened her heart and home to care for other children. She was renowned for her cooking talents, especially her delicious desserts, which brought joy to countless family gatherings and holiday celebrations.

An avid bingo enthusiast, Phyllis cherished her time with friends and family, often enjoying casino outings and the thrill of playing until the early hours of the morning. She loved her music and delighted in listening to the classics. Phyllis's greatest joy, however, was found in her family. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, attending every event and milestone with unwavering love and support.

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Marion, her siblings, her beloved husband Terence McCawley, her cherished son Keith McCawley, and her son-in-law Paul Ziemba. She is survived by her daughters Kris Ziemba, Cindy McCawley, Sue (Mike) Williams, Jennifer (Loren) Trecek, her son Terence (Erika) McCawley, her daughter-in-law Pam McCawley, along with her 18 adored grandchildren and 36 beloved great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life luncheon will be held on Saturday, March 16th, at 1:00 PM-3:00 PM at Good Shepherd Funeral Home, located at 4712 South 82nd Street, Ralston, Nebraska. Lower-level entrance.

Phyllis will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories will live on forever in the hearts of those she touched.
